Lately

It was brought to my attention recently that my blog has been neglected for longer than ever before.  I'm pretty sad about it!  But we have been so. busy.  Work the past three weeks has literally been insane.  On top of it, Dan's been traveling for work, so I've had Lilly by myself quite a bit (with a lot of help from Carney who has so graciously worked overtime so that I could get everything done!).  To say I've been feeling stretched pretty thin would be the understatement of the century.  I feel like I blinked and skipped from 8 months old to 9 months old in about 2 minutes.  My little baby girl is getting SO BIG (make it slow down!), and I have loved watching her become a little tiny person with tons of personality.  There will (hopefully) be an update post coming tomorrow, but for now, here's a little bit of what we've been up to since my last post:

Matt and Elizabeth got married.  It was a fancy black tie affair, so Mommy and Daddy got to play dress-up.  We had a great time with Aunt Meagan, Uncle Bo, Mary-Peyton and Daniel.  Congratulations to the bride and groom!

Dan and I have been training for a 5k.  I thought it would be something nice that we could do together that would also help me get into better shape, since my 3x/week sessions with the trainer are most of the time nonexistent as of late (no time!).  Anyway, I knew I hated running.  Check out the left foot below.

I tried to get into several different doctors all last week, but since I'm not established anywhere, no one would see me.  I finally gave up and went to urgent care yesterday.  I got some x-rays, and luckily there are no bone fragments or breaks.  The verdict was that it's tendonitis.  They wrapped my foot, prescribed a steroid and told me to stay off my feet.  I thought to myself that the good doctor clearly does not have a VERY MOBILE 9-month-old to chase around.  Note to self: if this isn't a sign that I'm not supposed to run, ever, I don't know what is.  I really did mean it when I said I'd rather drive off a cliff than run anywhere.  :-)

Lilly somehow contracted an illness.  She was running a low-grade fever, didn't have an appetite, was waking up at night hungry (due to aforementioned lack of appetite and therefore nonexistent eating), and generally just wanted to be held...which is very unlike her.  She normally will not sit still and is ALL over the place, so when she wanted to cuddle (which let's be honest was absolutely fine by me), I knew something was wrong (well that and when she wasn't interested in food, because again let's be honest, homegirl can eat).  There was also a lot of drool, so naturally we assumed it was teething.  We were right, but what we didn't know is that it was also roseola.  Never heard of it?  Me neither, until our sweet one broke out in this pitiful rash:

We attended a birthday party and a baptism while L was sick since we thought it was teething.  I felt pretty horrible about it, but called all the mothers of possibly infected children and haven't heard of any other child contracting it (knock on wood).  As a result of the combination of roseola and teething, there was a lot of cuddling going on in the Baum house hold last week.  I hated that Lilly wasn't feeling well, but I tried to savor every second because as I said before, if she is awake she is MOVING...normally there is NO time for snuggles with Mommy!

I was finally able to get some pictures of the teeth we've been working so hard to cut!

Cute little guys, aren't they?  Those two finally broke through last week, and I'm thinking we'll probably have one on the top sooner than later.

Did I mention that we are pulling up on EVERYTHING?

L had an accidental tumble out of the stroller last week with Carney.  The doctor had us bring her in to make sure there was no concussion and that she didn't need x-rays.  Luckily everything is fine and she is A-OK, but she has her first set of battle wounds:

We went to the pumpkin patch with our besties at the end of last week, and we had a blast!  The girls are SO CUTE together and a good time was had by all.

Side note: do yourself a favor and check out my bestie's photography business.  I'm so proud of her for finally launching it.  She does a fantastic job, and you should book her stat.  :-)

We went to Charlotte this past weekend just for a night because Dan and Frankie went to the Panther's game.  L got some quality time in with Aunt Debbie and Cousin Matthew:

L has Stymie vision!
Last but not least, L has been spoiled by her grandparents!  Grandmommy and Pawpaw brought her some super cute giraffe PJs home from Key West.  We didn't care that they were a little too big!

She also got some cute Halloween PJs from Grandma and Papa.  These are glow in the dark and SUPER nifty, but Lilly wasn't feeling too cooperative for a picture this evening.  I'll try to get a better one in the morning!

That's all for tonight!  This Momma's one tired puppy.  We'll hopefully report back tomorrow for Lilly's 9-month update!
