Size of Geronimina: This week, baby girl's about the size of an eggplant, weighing about a pound and two-thirds and measuring around 14 inches long from head to heel. Her ears are fine tuning in their development this week - she can now hear and decipher Dan and I's voices (and everyone else's). She's also inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is good practice for when she's born. Lots going on in there! One of my e-mails says that I could start feeling Braxton Hicks contractions around this time, but so far I've not felt any of those - let's hope it stays that way for a good long time!
Weight Gain So Far: You may want to sit down for this..at least I have to every time I think about it. Per the scale at the doctor on Friday, +13 (!!!). Soared into double digits! And really it has all been in the past week, because I was holding steady at +9 for SO long. I had to go a little drastic and empty my house of Halloween candy because I have no self-control around it whatsoever. The doctor assured us that the weight gain is completely normal - he said that most women have gained 16-22 lbs at this point in time. I should be gaining around 1lb/week from here on out, so yay weight gain (sigh)! I know it is all for a good reason and that it's perfectly normal, but it's still hard to see the weight gain increase when it is normally the opposite - I'm so used to watching my weight that I can't get used to gaining. Just because it's normal doesn't mean I have to like it! :-)
Aversions: Nada
Cravings: Ugh, my archnemesis, candy. SIGH. Thank the Lord I got most of it out of the house, because it's all I can think about.

Symptoms: Same old, nothing new to report. Tired, itchy skin, heartburn, and a little more difficulty sleeping than normal. I am not sure why, but one night last week I had the worst night of sleep yet. I was exhausted and went to bed around 9, and when Dan came to bed around midnight he was like, why are you still awake? I have no idea, but that lasted until 4:30 a.m. and it was annoying. I think it was partially because I couldn't get comfortable, but I'm not sure...either way I would love it if I don't have another night like that, it was terrible and I was really dragging the next day. OH, and mobility/flexibility is getting a lot more difficult. I noticed last week at the gym that I am not as bendy as usual - my stomach gets in the way so we're having to improvise a lot of exercises. And don't even try to get me to pick something up off of the floor. It is a sight to see for sure!
Movement: I cannot describe to you the amount this child moves. The other night, Layla and I were here alone and she was going NUTS. I managed to get about a 30 second video of her really going crazy, and Dan was so excited when he got to watch it. Due to my previous phone being a total piece and blowing up, I didn't have e-mail connected at the time so I have no way to show it to you, but hopefully one of these days I can capture it again to share.
What I Miss: Can't think of anything! Just enjoying the ride.
Things I am Thankful For: My family! They are all coming into town on Thursday to spend the weekend with us and help me get ready for Steph's shower, and I am so beyond grateful. Plus, we're putting Daddy and Dan to work on some house projects, woot! Also, Katy is staying with us for a few days while she's interviewing (fingers crossed!) and she cleaned today. Shout-out to Bekah, too, for being awesome related to reasons that we cannot disclose just yet. :-) And Moneque!
What I’m looking Forward To: Steph's shower this weekend! I have been proud of myself for not telling her any of the secrets/surprises like normal. I am so excited and hope she loves everything! Also looking forward to making some nursery decisions so that we can start on it...ahem, Dan, are you reading?
Signs of a Bump: Oh yeah. Katy was saying tonight that she thought it even looked bigger tonight than it did when she saw me this morning. Getting bigger by the second it seems like!
Next Doctor Appointment: 2.5 weeks, on November 23. This one's a big/scary one. Wanna know why? Meet my archnemesis:
Yes, the dreaded glucose drink. I have heard horror stories about this and am really dreading it. I've gotten lots of advice both from girlfriends and the doctor, mainly to make sure it's good and cold (hence it's already in the fridge). The doctor even suggested that I put it in the freezer for five minutes before drinking. I'll do another post closer to the time about what all this test entails and how I have to get ready for it, but gah I wish I didn't have to do it! After the glucose test, I start going to the doctor every 2 weeks. Lord, where is the time going?!
That's all for this week's update, folks. Did anyone else have a case of the Mondays? :-)
Sarah
I have officially arrived. I'd like to thank my parents and the academy...oh and sarah for my special shout out, lol.
ReplyDeleteI am one of the difficult eaters (and especially drinkers) EVER and was dreading the glucose drink so freaking much. I was so glad they had fruit punch flavor because even though I don't like fruit punch I simply can't stomach citrus. I was SHOCKED to find that it wasn't really gross at all - tastes like sugar...lots and lots of sugar. I only had to drink half of the bottle and certainly could have had the rest without a problem. Hopefully it will be just as easy for you!
