27 Week Update

I'm baaaaaack after a short hiatus.  Every week that I write these updates I cannot believe another week has already passed.  How about next week is Thanksgiving.  Oh yeah, and yesterday was the 13th, which means my due date is 3 months from yesterday?!?!?!  Time is FLYING.  I'm so excited to meet our little girl, but really wish time would slow down a little...she'll be here before we know it and we have a lot to do yet!  I know the next 3 months are going to absolutely fly with the Holidays and everything else.  I'm still catching up on sleep, so I'll cut to the chase with the 27-week stats.

Size of Geronimina:  One e-mail said an eggplant, and another said a cauliflower (although wasn't eggplant last week?):
I am not really sure how those are the same size, but whatevs.  This week, Geronimina weighs almost 2 pounds and is around 14.5 inches long when her legs are extended.  She'll be running out of room before long!  Her lungs are working really hard to develop, so if she were born today they would function (with a lot of medical help).  I will allegedly be able to feel her hiccuping soon - I am looking forward to this, as all of my girlfriends have told me it's super cute.

Weight Gain So Far: I haven't been brave enough to go near the scale, so I'm sticking with +13 until I hear differently next week at the doctor (gag).

Cravings: Still anything and everything that is sweet.  I am telling y'all I need to rid my house of all dessert.  I have zero self-control - t is a real problem.

Aversions: Nada.

Symptoms: Nothing new to report here.  This doesn't really count as a symptom, but I'm getting to the point where if I am laying down, I have to roll over onto my side to get back up.  It is not graceful.  And it's mildly hilarious.

Movement:  Not slowing down in the slightest.  Today, I had to go to the dentist (ugh).  While I was getting my teeth cleaned, I was reclined in the chair, and I guess she thought it was time for me to go to sleep because she put on quite a show, which normally happens the most when I'm laying down to rest.  The dental hygienist and the dentist got a real kick out of it.

What I Miss: Being able to stay up late without having to then catch up on sleep for 3 days.  I have read that my body is just preparing me for when baby comes, but good gosh I have never been so tired!

Things I am Thankful For: My Mom and Dad - what an incredible support system this baby has already, and what wonderful role models she has to look up to.  They were so helpful this weekend with Steph's shower (more on that later) - I truly couldn't have done it without them and cannot express how grateful I am for their love and support.  Also my full body boppy pillow.  It is becoming increasingly difficult to find a comfortable sleeping position, and the boppy pillow has been life saving.

What I’m looking Forward To:  Still looking forward to making some nursery decisions and starting on that room.  I can't wait for the day when I can go in there and it is ready and waiting on baby!  Also excited for Thanksgiving - both to see my family and to eat a lot of delicious food (as if I need to do any more eating!).

Signs of a Bump: Yup.  Please excuse the self-portraits.  Somehow when Dan takes them I never think they're flattering, so I've stopped asking (Side note: it kind of looks like I am holding my phone with a claw in the pic below, HA!).
Last night we attended a fundraiser and I saw some people I haven't seen in a little while.  Every single one of them said something to the effect of, "WOW you can really tell you're pregnant now."  Thanks, I think?  :-)

Next Doctor Appointment: Ugh, next week...the dreaded glucose test.  I feel like I should cut out all sugar starting this week just in case.  Is that cheating?  I just really want to pass, and am so not looking forward to weighing in drinking the glucola.  Fingers crossed!

That's all for this week's update - nothing too exciting to report.  Hope everyone had a fantastic weekend...I had a case of the Mondays today for sure, so I hope tomorrow is better!

Sarah
