Weekend Roundup

The weekends always seem to fly by, but this time of year especially I feel like I blink and they're over.  I guess the same could really be said for the time period from Thanksgiving through the end of the year !  This was our first weekend at home in several weeks and it was glorious.  There were some new Christmas traditions along with some relaxation, and the only thing we didn't do that I wanted to was continue with our cleanout/organizing rampage in preparation for baby boy.  T-minus 9 weeks-ish (!!!!!) to get to that, I suppose.

On Friday night, we attended An Evening With Elves at Marbles.  I know I mentioned at least 25 times last week how excited I was about this and how much I've been looking forward to it.  I actually really wanted to take Lilly last year but knew she wouldn't get much out of it for $25 buckaroos each at only 11 months old.  I am definitely glad we waited, because I still felt like she was a little young for some of the activities this year, but we all had a blast.  The kiddies all wore their PJs and it was so cute to see all of the fun Christmas jambes.  When we arrived we went ahead and ate dinner, which was included in the price of admission (chicken, mac & cheese, green beans and corn bread).  After that, it was time to PLAY.  It was mainly just like extended nighttime hours for the museum with added activities - there was a DJ, (free) booze for the parentals (minus the preggo ones sadly), tons of crafts, a sugar cookie decorating station, ornament making stations, and a "camp" outside where there was fire and s'more making, among other things.  There were a LOT of people there (it always sells out) so it was a little chaotic and it wore all of us out, but it was so much fun.  I think my favorite part may have been the end of the night when L was dancing to the DJ with all of the other kids.  I can't believe I didn't get a video, she was hysterical and had quite an audience.  A ham, this kid is!

Cute little elf house on the way into the museum

L was a little unsure about all of the activities at first, but it didn't take her long to warm up

The elves and the sugarplum fairy sang songs with the kiddies during dinner

Cute one!

Of course she headed straight for the tutus in the dance area upstairs...

One more family photo op at the elf house
On Saturday morning, we all slept in because we were so tired from the evening's activities!

Morning snuggles
We'd talked about heading to Cary for their Christmas festival with the Aldridges, but the weather was so nasty that we opted out.  A little part of me regrets that decision after seeing the pics that Steph got of Hadley with Santa because he was seriously legit, but another part of me is glad we didn't go because we ventured out to Monkey Joe's to burn some energy for the first time instead and we had SO much fun.  It was kind of crowded and I'm glad Dan was with us on our first trip because Lilly needed help with pretty much everything there and I definitely would not have been able to maneuver with her by myself, but those two had the time of their lives!  It was $5 well spent - and we actually only stayed around 45 minutes because Lilly was so worn out that she started laying down on the floor saying she was tired.  I am not sure who had more fun, Lilly or her Daddy!

*Sorry in advance for the terrible quality of photos!

So much fun!!!

Not sure who was more excited.

"Lilly tired."

At the table when we went out to lunch after Monkey Joe's.  100% sure this has NEVER happened before!
We ate lunch and then came home and everyone took a pretty serious nap.  On Saturday night, Dan and I attended my company Christmas party.  I was so tired that the closer it got the less excited I was, but I'm glad we went.  It's fun to see a bunch of accountants all cleaned up and letting loose (although admittedly I wouldn't have minded a glass of champagne or wine or four) and we had a good time.  The party started at 7 and I told Dan on the way there that I wasn't sure I'd make it past 9:30, so imagine my surprise when I looked at my phone and it was 11:30!  We had a fun time.

The originals.  LOVE THESE GIRLS!!!
I wanted to go to church this morning, but we didn't go to bed until after midnight and I honestly just wasn't feeling up to it today.  Instead we had breakfast and decorated our tree, and we live streamed church to the computer while doing so.  It was the best of both worlds, in my opinion.  In the interest of time (and sleep), I think I'll save those pics for tomorrow, but I'll leave you with a sneak peek of the finished product.

Most gigantic tree ever!  I think this is actually the first time that we've been able to fit all of our ornaments on the tree...
It was a wonderful weekend, and now I hope this week will fly by because my family is coming to visit this upcoming weekend and we are making even more fun Christmas memories.  Lots of fun stuff on the blog this week, including my first ever giveaway (!!!) so stay tuned!
