Ritmo In Action

Happy Tuesday!

As you may or may not have read yesterday, Baby Geronimo's ears are developing this week, meaning he/she can now hear!  I have been SO excited for this week so I could try out the Ritmo sound system designed especially for Mommy and Baby.

Before I go any further with this post, I  have two shares that I hope you'll find equally as hilarious as I did.  The first is, while flipping through the book to figure out how this contraption works (I'm still not convinced I have it hooked up right, but since I can[sort of] hear when I plug the head phones in I guess I'll leave it for now), I stumbled across the following photo:
This struck me as funny for various reasons, but the main one was this: I would never, EVER wear this thing in public.  Call me vain, choosing fashion over stimulating my child, but this thing is SO silly looking.  And there that lady is just chillin with her grocery bag and her Ritmo baby sound machine thing.  Hilarious.

The second funny thing that happened involved my sister, Katy, helping me try to figure out said sound machine.  Behold:
She is probably going to hurt me for posting those, but they were too funny not to share!  Look at that skinny b*tch (I had to say it!) trying to push her stomach out to make it fit!  Sadly, I may be forced to slap her (ma'am, eat a sandwich!).  She had a grand time modeling with both the ritmo and the boppy total body pillow.

I have been thinking about what to have Baby Geronimo listen to, and I think I've come up with a pretty good mix in what I have dubbed the "Lullaby Playlist."  Of course, this list is not all-inclusive...my husband wants him/her to listen to lots of classical music - specifically Vivaldi, because he loves it (Side note: earlier when he asked me if I'd played his favorite classical artist yet, I responded, "Who?  Vivace?"  For those of you who do not know, that is an Italian restaurant in Raleigh...NOT a classical musician.  Guess I have Italian food [or any food, really] on the brain?).  He has also requested a lot of Sinatra, which I am okay with.  Anyway, here's a list of what's on the Lullaby playlist so far:
  1. Golden Slumbers - originally a Beatles song, but I've got the Ben Folds version
  2. Carolina In My Mind - James Taylor
  3. Fly Me To The Moon - Frank Sinatra
  4. Sweet Baby James - James Taylor
  5. To Make You Feel My Love - Adele's version
  6. Danny's Song - Kenny Loggins
  7. Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Jewel's version
  8. Pooh Corner - Kenny Loggins (Mom used to sing me to sleep to this)
  9. God Speed - Dixie Chicks
  10. Little Miss Magic - Jimmy Buffet (My Dad's fav)
  11. Never Grow Up - Taylor Swift
  12. Shine the Light - Sugarland
  13. Power of Two - Indigo Girls
  14. Lullaby - Billy Joel
  15. Your Song - originally Elton John, but I picked the Ellie Goulding version
  16. Just My Imagination - Temptations
  17. The Way You Look Tonight - Frank Sinatra
  18. Making Plans - Miranda Lambert
  19. Nothing Fancy - Dave Barnes (Dan's and my song)
  20. Baby Mine (Dan's Mom used to sing to him when he was little)
  21. Crazy Love - Van Morrison
I normally lean towards country, so I tried to get a good mix on my playlist - and it's just a start.  I'm sure I will think of a lot more songs later that need to be added to the Lullaby playlist.  I'm not saying that I'm going to limit his/her musical taste to that playlist alone - there will be lots more to listen to (read: Britney Spears, Justin Bieber, Beyonce, etc.); this is just a list of songs that make me happy and seem to be soothing.  If you can think of any that I should add, leave me some comment love!  What are your all time favorite songs that you'd have to have on your lullaby list?

Hope everyone's having a great week so far!

Sarah
